History & Significance of Adi Keshava Ghat

English
The Panch-tirtha pilgrimage of Vishnu begins at Adi Keshava — from here the circuit of the five Vishnu sites of Kashi commences. The ancient Adi Keshava (Keshava) temple above is dedicated to Vishnu. The Ganga is said to turn north at this point, linking the river to her source at Gangotri. The ghat stands at the far northern edge of the city, near the Malviya Bridge. The view from here is open and vast — a quiet ending of the ghat arc, far from the crowds.
