Bhaisasur is the demon spoken of as an ally of Ravana. Legend says the goddess defeated him hereabouts, and the old tale lives on in the ghat name. Between Prahlad and Adi Keshava Ghats, the place serves both bathing and the cremation rites of the city. Being at the far northern end of Kashi, its views are open and vast.

भैंसासुर उस दैत्य का नाम है जो रावण का सहयोगी बताया जाता है। कथा के अनुसार देवी ने उसे यहीं के आसपास परास्त किया था। घाट के नाम में यह पुरानी कथा आज भी जीवित है। प्रहलाद और आदि केशव घाटों के बीच बसा यह स्थान स्नान और शहर के अंत्येष्टि कर्मों दोनों के लिए प्रयोग होता है। काशी के सबसे उत्तरी छोर पर होने के कारण यहां का दृश्य खुला और विशाल है।
