The Ganga Mahal is the celebrated palace-fortress of Varanasi built in the eighteenth century. To its south lies the larger ghat (I), and to its north this smaller landing (II). Together they served the palace as bathing places. From Ganga Mahal Ghat II the ramparts still frame a magnificent view, best enjoyed from a boat. The waterline here stays calm, drawing locals and a few visitors.
