History & Significance of Lal Ghat
English
Settled since the twelfth century, this is one of the oldest ghats of the northern stretch. The name Lal (red) is read from the red masonry of the shrine or from old memory. The temple at the centre is called the life of the ghat by the neighbourhood. Between Adi Shitla and Hanumanagarh Ghats, it is today a quiet bathing place. In the floods its bank goes under first — a sign of its great age.
