The Maharaja of Vizianagaram (Vijayanagaram) in south India built this ghat and palace as his pilgrimage residence in Kashi. From the upper part of the palace the whole belt of the ghats is visible. The stairs are wide, and despite the bustle of Kedar Ghat close by, the ghat keeps a comparative calm. Pilgrims from the south counted this ghat as a home of their own. Today it is a quiet bathing place with handsome stairs.

दक्षिण भारत के विजयनगरम (विजयनगर) रियासत के महाराजा ने काशी में अपने तीर्थ-निवास के लिए यह घाट और महल बनवाए। महल के ऊपरी हिस्से से नदी की पूरी पट्टी दिखती है। घाट की सीढ़ियां चौड़ी हैं और केदार घाट की चहल-पहल के बावजूद यहां अपेक्षाकृत शांति रहती है। दक्षिण के तीर्थयात्री इस घाट को अपने घर की तरह मानते थे। आज यह सुंदर सीढ़ियों वाला एक शांत स्नान स्थल है।
