History & Significance of Dashashwamedh Ghat

English
Legend holds that when Brahma performed ten ashwamedha (horse) sacrifices to persuade Shiva back to Kashi, the ghat became Dashashwamedh — the "ten-sacrifice" ghat. For centuries it has been the heart of the city, the point where the lanes open towards the Vishwanath temple. Its southern arm is known as Sindhia Ghat. Every evening five Brahmin pandits perform the grand aarti with fire, incense, conch and lamps, watched by visitors from around the world.
