History & Significance of Mir Ghat

English
The ghat takes its name from two traditions. One holds it in memory of the Krishna-devotee Mirabai, with a Krishna temple carrying her devotion. The other traces it to the Mir (gardener) families of Kashi who served the cremation rites of Harishchandra. The ghat sits between Tripura Bhairavi and Yajneshwar. The lanes above lead towards the Vishwanath temple, and bathing and worship continue on the steps through the day.
