The ghat is named after the Jain teacher Vaccharaja and is tied to the Jain traditions of Kashi. Like most ghats, it was rebuilt in the eighteenth century. Today it is a quiet and plain local bathing ghat. Though only steps away from Assi Ghat, the crowds do not reach here. The families of the quarter alone come regularly.
