History & Significance of Munshi Ghat

English
In the Maratha age a munshi of the Bhonsle court of Nagpur built this ghat and palace as his residence in Kashi. The windows, balconies and corridors of the Munshi Mahal carry the craft of the eighteenth century. Later the palace came to house several families, and at the end of the twentieth century the stairs were repaired. Today the ghat sits between Darbhanga and Ahilyabai as a handsome, gently-busy bathing place, humming with bhajan and bathing in the mornings.
